About the Kids Fun Run

The Wilsonville Honda Kiwanis Kids Fun Run is unlike any run you've ever experienced.  Most fun runs either charge an entry fee or ask kids to knock on doors and get friends and neighbors to fill out pledge cards to raise money.  Thanks to generous support from our sponsors like Wilsonville Honda and Albertsons, with the Kiwanis Kids Fun Run, there is no entry fee and no pledge cards to fill out.  Families simply register and attend the event and have a great time!

Why Have a Fun Run?
The Fun Run is the major fundraiser for the Wilsonville Kiwanis Club.  The club raises about $10,000 in profits from event sponsors.  We invest that money back into the kids in our community through scholarships and grants.  Click here to learn more about our scholarships and grants.

If you would like to make a donation to support the work of Kiwanis in and around Wilsonville, click here.

Who May Run?
The run is for youth pre-K though 8th grade (but older brothers and sisters, moms and dads, aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas are welcome to run with their little ones too).

Heats are run by grade and gender according to the following schedule.  NOTE: times are subject to change.  While we don't anticipate any changes, please check back here the night before the run to see any updates to the schedule.

What does it Cost?
Thanks to a generous grant from the City of Wilsonville and the support of our sponsors, there is no charge to register.  "We can only guarantee a free T-shirt, Medal and Goody Bag to kids who pre-register.

What do You Get?
All kids who register and attend the event will get a free 2008 Kids Fun Run T-Shirt, goody bag, and as they cross the finish line, they will be awarded a medal.

When Does It Start?
The first heat is at 10:00 am.  This is an hour later than in prior years.  We made this change to give parents more time to get through the registration process and not feel rushed.  Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your heat.  Most will show up one hour prior to their heat so they have time to play in the activity center before running.  The last heat is at 1:10 pm.

What Other Activities Are Offered?
Here are just a few of the other activities planned for this year's event:

  • Water Inflatables:  Thanks to generous contributions from Dr. Restic and Dr. James, we will have two water inflatables.  Bring your swim suit and plan to cool off after your race!
  • Wellness Pavilion:  We are excited to announce a new partnership with Legacy Meridian Park Hospital and their sponsorship of our Wellness Pavilion.  Kids will have an opportunity to complete a Wellness Challenge where they will get weighed and measured and have their temperature and blood pressure checked.  They will also get to listen to their hearts and see how physical activity changes their vital signs.  Our "nurses" will complete Wellness Cards for each child who participates in the challenge and allow the kids to take their cards home after the event.
  • Fire Fighters:  Our friends from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue will bring a fire truck and ambulance and we hear they have a special surprise in store (bring your swim suits!).
  • Wilsonville's Longest Slip & Slide: At the conclusion of the event kids will be invited to test out our new 300 foot slip and slide.
  • Trolley Rides:  Families can take trolley rides from the event around town.  Some lucky kids even get to ring the bell at the end of the ride!
